Candas Bas is a director, choreographer, dancer , actress singer. and her passion for sharing music guided. her through djing at many venues around the world.
She danced with the Flemish Opera and the Hush Hush Hush dance company in Belgium, Compagnie Cre-Ange in France and worked in different projects in Germany, Belgium, France and Turkey with choreographers such as Abdel Sarrokh, Philippe Talard, Zeynep Tanbay, Mustafa Kaplan, Lorena Rondi, Michael Keagan Dolan, Tayeb Benamara, Charles Cre-Ange, Diane Elshout, Frank Handler, and Jordi Galli. She also took part in the William Forsythe's ''Human Writes" performance with Forsythe Company in Istanbul.
Candas currently works and lives in Berlin, where she produced and performed 4 solo works: "When a bomb drops”, " Trautes Heim Gluck Allein” ,"Occasionally Colliding" , “Darling of the Spectacle” and “Collidings” . She also performed in Modjgan Hashemian's Tongue Twisters, joined Dance On Ensemble, danced in Bibliomaniacs by Lisi Esteras for Itinerant Ensemble and is currently working with Constanza Macras Dorky Park in the productions "The West," "Stages of Crises ", "The Pose" and “Drama”
The multiple awarded choreographer staged many productions with international acclaim. Candas also taught modern dance, ballet and jazz at Bilgi University, movement classes at Kadir Has University's Theater Department and was also regular teacher at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University's Contemporary Dance Section. She was a board member of the Actors Union of Turkey and has a deep interest in using performance art as a medium to put contemporary socio-political issues into perspective. She is also co-founder of several collectives based in Istanbul and co-founder of Ciplak Ayaklar Kumpanyasi, an indepedent dance company from Istanbul. She is constantly working Deutsche Eislauf Union and giving classes to German National Figure Skating Team.
Candas choreographed musicals such as "Rent", "Hair", "Avenue Q" and did the moving direction of "The Tempest”, “War” ,”Lear”, “A Midsummer Night’s dream”, ”A Trial in Istanbul”, “Constellations”, “ Cagrilmayan Yakup” and “The Rebellion Day of The Dogs” a co-production of Sao Luiz Teatro Municipality and the Istanbul Theater Festival, “12’th Night” at the Istanbul Municipality Theater and “Les Cocons” which premiered at Avignon Off.
She was Master Trainer at Nike for its dance events. She also choreographed the 2003 Eurovison Song contest's winner Sertab Erener's stage show, and Can Bonomo’s Eurovision appearance. She worked with many Turkish artists for their stage performances and music videos such as Sertab Erener, Hande Yener, Sibel Tuzun, Hadise, Yalin, Atiye and Can Bonomo. She choreographed events for companies such as Nike, Puma, Davidoff, Absolute, Gap, Garanti Bank, and Apple.
Candas choreographed 6 short dance films for Cynthia Madensky, and acted on 3 shorts and also in the acclaimed comedy “Moral Bozuklugu ve 31"". She choreographed events for companies such as Nike, Puma, Davidoff, Absolute, Gap, Garanti Bank, and Apple.
Her choreographies were performed in Les Floraisons du Botanique, CCBE (Cultuur Centrum Berchem), IX. Festival Internacional de Danca Contemporanea Portugal, Sofia Dance Week, 14. 15. and 16.Istanbul Theatre Festival, IDANS, Diyalog Festival Berlin, Culturscapes Switzerland, Dansem, Question de danse France, New Sounds of Istanbul DE, and the Displaced - RePlaced Festival DE, Radialsystem DE.
She is also a certified yoga teacher, reiki master, holistic healer and her ongoing learning and practice of qigong, shaolin kung fu and traditional chinese medicine is her biggest enthusiasm.
